Cluster of 2 x 33 angels: for Yoko and John at the 33rd anniversary of their Double Fantasy album’s release - and for Teja and me, for 33 years of our life together.

The 33rd anniversary of Yoko and John’s Double Fantasy album’s release, which I’ve discovered this year as an important source of inspiration, reminds me also to 33 years of our marriage. Out of this grew an idea to use this beautiful & meaningful number in my artwork, which I’ve created for the exhibition LITTLE BIG MIRACLES in Lična hiša. The big window has given me opportunity to show a cluster of 2 x 33 miniature images as an installation, like a mobile, hanging in front of it, a kind of "Wish Curtain" or "Wish Tree" (allusion to famous artwork by Yoko Ono). Images were painted with acrylics and Chinese ink on cardboard pieces, which had been cut from larger cardboard boxes (which sometimes have printed surfaces with colours, letters, words or visual signs).

This cluster composition has a long history: I've got the first idea while listening to the famous song by Leonard Cohen “The Tower of Song”:

I was born like this, I had no choice
I was born with the gift of a golden voice
And twenty-seven angels from the Great Beyond
They tied me to this table right here
In the Tower of Song …

In the beginning I had an idea to make a composition of 27 angels (27 = 9 x 3), which was an inspiration of the verse from this Leonard's song. Beside that I like this symbolic number I often feel like I’m “tied" to my studio "table” in a fatal way (with "no other choice"), surrounded by sounds and inspirations, coming from “Great Beyond”. So this composition of angels should be dedicated to Leonard Cohen too! Thanks, Leonard! On the other side I've been fascinated with the number 33 of both anniversaries, so at the end I've decided to make 2 x 33 angels instead of 27. Thanks to Yoko and John too! I’m really grateful for inspirations, coming from works of artist which I admire! Of course I’m also grateful to my family and to all my friends, who support my work and me all the time, for last 33 years and more!
